The ‘green’ wall and pergola in August 2016, just after it was finished – compare to the bottom image taken in April 2017. The pumpkins were unplanned – they emerged from the compost. With gratitude, we have so far harvested a dozen or so Japs and several Butternuts. The possums were also happy to demolish a couple before we had the chance to bring them in.
The next challenge will be trying to harvest some of the passionfruit before it all goes to the possums, bowerbirds and parrots.
The Asian spinach has been a vigorous climber and has served its purpose for cooling the west wall, although not such a hit with all the family as a salad green, unfortunately.
